Deutsche Asset One GmbH is a nationwide asset manager for institutional capital, headquartered in Berlin with around 45 employees. The company had already reached a high level of digital maturity and had worked paperlessly for years.

The problem wasn't a flood of paper — it was hidden in plain sight: employees uploaded around 10,000 documents into a generic DMS every year, manually, one by one, every single time. Two minutes per document, 10,000 documents a year: that adds up to a full working month lost to pure administration.

On top of that came mounting pressure around ESG reporting. Manually compiling data for reports took up to three weeks — too long in a fast-moving market.
