Patrick Penn, Founder and CEO, worked as an IT specialist in the real estate industry — not as a consultant, but as someone who built the systems himself and saw the problems every day.
His impression: in every company there were thousands of documents that knew everything — contracts, addenda, handover protocols. But this knowledge was invisible, because none of it knew about the rest, let alone talked to it.

Today, Patrick Penn and Mark Scharpenack run the company together. Patrick with the vision, Mark with the closeness to the product. docunite is self-funded: no venture capital, no investors. A deliberate choice. We build what the industry needs. Not what a pitch deck promises.
